The Croatian Association for Radiotherapy (CART) was founded with a clear goal – to improve the accessibility, quality, and recognition of radiotherapy as a key component of cancer treatment in Croatia.

The idea of establishing the Association arose from the shared experience of professionals who work daily with oncology patients. We are aware that radiotherapy, although an extremely effective and scientifically proven treatment method, is often underrecognized by the public and faces infrastructural, staffing, and organizational challenges within the healthcare system.

Our mission is to bridge these gaps – together.

In Croatia, radiotherapy shows excellent results when it is provided on time, with modern equipment and qualified professionals. However, the reality is that capacities differ between institutions, waiting lists can be long, and investments in equipment and professional training are not always systematically supported. This leads to inequalities in patient care, depending on where they are treated.

HURT aims to act as the voice of the profession and as a platform for connecting all stakeholders – physicians, medical physicists, radiotherapy technologists, scientists, and policymakers. We believe that investments in modern technology, continuous professional development, and international collaboration are essential for progress.

Our vision is a healthcare system in which every patient, regardless of region or institution, has the same opportunity to receive the most advanced and effective therapy – on time and without compromise.

Such change can only be achieved through the collective effort of all stakeholders involved in radiotherapy. That is why CART invites physicians, medical physicists, radiotherapy technologists, scientists, regardless of the healthcare institution in which they work, as well as legal entities, associations, and decision-makers, to join us in building a system that will give patients in Croatia an equal chance for the best possible care. Only through shared knowledge, experience, and responsibility can we overcome challenges and build the kind of radiotherapy that patients truly deserve.
